Old bear bow
« on: August 31, 2014, 04:31:00 PM »
I recently had a Kodiak hunter break on me. The top limb just folded over on draw.  It has been sitting here and I was wondering what I could do with it.  I have no use for it but I was wondering if anybody could use any parts on it like the tips or something.  Seems a waste to just put it in the trash!!

I have seen some rather nice lamps made out of the riser of a bow with a broken limb...if you have the ability to do the work you might try that, or if not find someone who would do it for you

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

You can saw off the limb tips and make key fobs out of them. I did that with my Hoyt Pro Hunter.

A friend took my blown Hoyt limbs and made arrowhead key fobs with the Bear coin in them. Very attractive.

The riser can be either displayed with the limbs cut off or made into a lamp. I propped mine up in a corner with a pheasant mount, bowhunting pictures and other junk on a shelf going into my man cave.

I would like to have the riser to put new limbs on if you are going to toss it.

Thanks,

I was at an archery club once and they had the door handle made out of an older recurve riser.  Very cool!!

Vintage Bows.  Three books by Rick Rappe have good info.   Available from his websire or sometimes on E**y.   Great resource to talk to if you call him.

I screwed a bow handled to the out house door and use it for a door handle now.

Matt, use your imagination.

I have seen the lamps and door handles. Also you could make a  bow rack, knife handles grunt calls, arrow scratchers from the limbs.

Let us know if you do anything with it.

The medallion on that would be worth a couple bucks to someone who needed one the ideas already posted here seem like good ones.
