Not sure if this is the right section to post this in but I moved to Dallas not too long ago and am looking for places to shoot or places pretty near to hunt. Any info is appreciated.

I don't know about hunting opportunities up that way, but there are quite a few trad shooters and places to shoot in a d around DFW. Collin County Archery Club, Cowtown Archery Club, Denton County Archery Club are a few places for you to start looking.

After the first of the year there will be quite a few large TBoT (Traditional Bowhunters of Texas) shoots up that way, and I am pretty sure that all the clubs have monthly club shoots too.

Good luck, and welcome to TX!

I, too, could use the information. I just moved to Dallas a month ago. I'm interested in finding places to shoot. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, welcome!

As far as places to shoot, there is an indoor range in Plano, but I have never been there but I expect it is wall to wall compounds. Elm Fork Shooting has a 3-D, but I am not sure if you have to be a club member or not.
I am a member of Irving Bowhunters which is in South Dallas, right at the edge of Grand Prairie. It is a beautiful course, with 28 field targets and a 3-D course.
I am out there a LOT, so PM me if interested in  meeting out there sometime to check it out.

It would be great to have more trad guys, I have only seen 2 others in the last several years.!!

As for hunting, short answer is none for free.

For hunting, check out the LBJ Grasslands....NW of Fort Worth. All you need is a hunting license.

I wrote the newsletter for Irving Bowhunters for a couple of years. The club is mostly compound shooter now but it is a great layout. Although I have not been a member for several years I still consider it to be one of the premier spots to shoot in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Check it out.   :campfire:

Yep. Also the safest place to be during a tornado...never a touchdown.
