Close as I can, I have shot animals from 3 to 24 yds. Past this I shoot great on targets out to 30yds. But they don't bleed. Good luck all.

It depends on how I feel. If a had rough day at work, the day before, or if I put on a lot of miles stalking, the day before, then I may not be " feeling it" so I keep my range 20 and under.
But on those days when I am "feeling it" then 35 and under, no problem.

I can punch paper all day out to 35 but hunting my max is 22 yards. Because after 22 my arrows start dropping pretty quick.

I'm pretty surprised how many people are comfortable out to 30 yards. Guess I have to practice more

One thing I like about the fact that my primary hunting objectives this fall will be elk and moose is that they both have quite a bit deeper kill zone than a whitetail...so as long as I am shooting down the line I would consider a 30 yard shot on an elk and a 40 yard shot on a moose given the right circumstances

Being a ground hunter, I prefer to shoot 18 and over. A twenty five yard shot seems longer in my backyard than thirty yards seems out hunting.  As a result I have shot a number of deer at longer ranges. I still prefer 18 yards.

I am surprised that more people are not comfortable out to 30.  I have a feeling that so many people have been told that traditional archery is a close range sport that they do not practice past 20 yards.  I practice out to 50 and have no qualms about shooting at a deer at 35, with saying that I set most of my stands to have a shot between 10 and 15 yards, but I am always prepared for a longer shot

For elk I think I could stretch one out to 80 yards...      

Just kidding... it blows me away that I've seen wheelie guys try it!?!

At a target I feel great out to 25 yards, but like many, I want stuff with a heartbeat 20 or closer.

20 is what I'm constantly practicing at. I used to put 12 in a 4" circle at that, but I took the whole spring and summer off and now I'm struggling with a 10" circle. Not that it matters, I'm gonna have to miss the first three weeks of season cause of a broken leg...guess I'll have some time to practice. Where in FL are you hunting? I like 3 Lakes and Ocala.
