The bear just ran off when he saw us.  We saw him again about 200 yards away on the next ridge.
Brian checked on bear tags and there were left overs but had to go to DNR to get it and it cost $451.  After seeing the pics of the big guy, I don't think he wanted to be sitting on the ground 15 yards from the carcass.    :scared:   It would have been Brian's first bear, I've killed a few.

Holy bears. Congrats to Brian.  Sounds like quite the adventure.  FYI. Colorado has OTC bear tags with caps. If you come back to that spot next year, might be worth getting the tag!

Congrats on the cow! I have been elk hunting 3 times and have yet to pull the string back! I was always holing out for a bull. If I ever get another chance, I will shoot any legal elk!

Congrats again,

Bisch

Brock, it was great meeting you and everybody at the shop.
we stopped by Rocky Mountain specialty gear just outside Denver on the way out and back.  If your out that way you have to stop and visited with these guys.  Great shop and everybody is friendly and knowledgeable.  Tom Clun the owner put a scary sharp edge on our broad heads and Brian proved it was sharp with a long quartering shot on his cow.  Tom killed a huge bull on opening week.  Check out his blog under opening week.   http://rmsgear.blogspot.com/
