I turned down many for hunting up at my lodge because I didn't think it would be fair to tell others it's bowhunting only but have the deer in the bean fields shot at with guns. It was tough to do and unpopular. I felt bad but I told them if they were to bow hunt it would be o-k. It's easy to just blast one up there with a gun. So far no one is hunting the area. I can't understand this because if you seen the herd you would be excited.

The wind is howling today, with sporadic showers. I hope to get out tonight, and tomarrow. I like to get out and sit in a stand, and make sure that I've got everything in order. It's a nice practice run, to get back into the swing of things before the real season begins.
Plant a fruit or nut tree today, and have good hunting tomorrow.

Went out this morning and had to be mobile with the wind swirling.  Came to a likely spot along a trail leading to a bedding area and could hear occasional movement.  And then the guns go off on the adjacent property.  Not a problem until a shot whistles through the leaves not thirty feet away.  Figured it was time to head in at that point for breakfast and a cold beverage.
