Bisongear lost river

Can anyone who owns this pack show me a pic of the bottom of their pack?  More specifically, I'm tryin to figure out the proper way to run the bottoms compression straps.  Thanks

Hmmmm.  I have one of those packs, but no compression straps on the bottom.  It does have straps for tying on extra gear.  I just leave the loops open to make about a 5-inch or so circle so the excess strap doesn't trail out too long below the pack. Could also just coil it up and put a rubber band around it.

I should elaborate.  Maybe the strap I'm referring to isn't a "compression" strap.  It looks like you could strap a bedroll or coat to it on the bottom, also one on top.  Their is also a square leather patch that looks like you would put more strapping through it.  Just not sure of how to set it up, probably doesn't matter much, just making me think.

Mine has two straps just below the outside pocket, for tying on a jacket or similar, maybe even a small blanket roll.

There are another two on top, each of which runs thru a plastic like patch to hold it (jacket or whatever I strap on) centered along the top of the pack.

There are no leather patches on the bottom of mine.  There are also two straps that run horizontally across the pack, one near top and one near bottom,  These can be used as compression straps, or for lash downs.  I carry a collapsed Montana elk decoy here on mine.

Maybe my patches are plastic.  So what about the plastic little rings on the pack?  There are two on top and two on bottom.  Are they used with the straps, or something else?  Thanks

hmmm  rings ?

On mine. . . i have two straps (each, top and bottom, the top assembly is larger).  The straps are sewn in place on the bottom.

Opposite the strap is sewn a short piece of doubled strap with a plastic buckle of sorts (ring ?  but it is not a circular thing).

The strap, if yours is not already like this, goes into the empty slot nearest the pack, from underside, then turn it around and back thru the slot farthest from the pack.

This way when you put a jacket etc in there, you pull the strap to tighten it up, and pull up on the end of the buckle to loosen it.

The top strap is a single strap, secured in place on the harness and thru the plastic / leather square thing on the top of the pack.

It has an empty strap end at one end and a buckle thingie on the other.  That part is strung together just like the bottom.

Is that what you got there ?

I have one the two on the top straps I think are for the meat bag in side of the pack. Two inside the bottom and two on the straps. The other rings are for what ever you want them to be far. I think that is what you are talking about. Also what Chuck says. It is a very good pack I do not regret buying one.

I'm already up to 998 words !     :biglaugh:

I still don't see rings.  My game bag snaps to the inside bottom, and the top of it, when deployed has straps located near the top of the shoulder that go thru buckles in the top of the bag..

Only rings I see are located about chest high on the front of the shoulder strap.  I believe those are standard for clipping on handles for a place to grab and rest your arms while walking a good distance.

Don't tell me I got cheated outta some rings ! (teasing. . . That pack has nearly everything I want in a pack of that type.)
