how my mind works...
« on: October 02, 2014, 12:52:00 PM »
So I'm at this training session today about trauma, dealing with PTSD, etc.. (I'm a counselor). Presenter is talking about the fear response, says "you round a bend on a trail in the woods, and..." (here she shows a slide of a nice black bear, standing broadside). she says "what do you do?" people are saying stuff like "stand real still" or "slowly back away" or "run!" I'm thinking "you nock an arrow, focus on a spot low behind the shoulder, and start your draw..."

I like your thinking !

It reminds me about the time I went to one of my kids grade school concerts.  It had a wildlife theme (liberal bent of course).

I walked out to use the rest room and ran into the new Principle, who I had not met before.  We started talking and discovered we liked the same things - mainly hunting!  So we hung out in the hallway talking about shooting stuff while the grade school sang about saving the whales or whatever.
A great friendship was begun that day and continues to this day.  Never know when you might run into one of us!
