Anyone know right off hand who made the fedoras that Fred always wore? Stetson? Resistol? Someone else?

It was in fact a Borsolino; but the model he wore is now longer produced. You may find it at a vintage clothing store AND I have seen them on the notorious auction site we aren't supposed to mention here. Borsolino hats are available at noggintops.com as well. They are high dollar hats.

Seems to me I read in one of Dick Lattimer's books thar Fred used to purchase his Borsolinos from "Henry the Hatter" in Detroit.

Actually, Noggintops carries a nice outdoorish Borsalino for $185 that is among the cheapest new Borsalinos I have seen. They also carry a couple of good looking Stetson fedoras, the Chatham and the Bear Creek, for $120-130 ...
