Bear Coin Removal

Anyone know an EASY way to get old coin out?
 It needs replacing, not looking to salvage old one.

Check out the restoration 101 thread in trad history and collecting forum. Seems like there's a detailed description on removing the coin. Although I think it's done in a way to salvage the coin. So there may be a quicker and easier way if the coin is junk.

I've never done it so I'm shooting from the hip here...what if you drilled a hole through the coin and then took a flat head machine screw and screwed it into the hole in the coin. It may kinda act as a press...as the screw threads into the coin, it may bottom out against the riser wood and pop it right out.      

Just an idea. I'd probably follow the 101 directions though.

Heat up a bolt with a torch and then put the head on the coin.  The hot bolt will transfer heat to the coin and the glue will let loose.  You can then either use something sharp under the edge of the coin to lift it out (be careful not to damage the wood surrounding the hole) or stick that same bolt head into some hot melt glue, put the head back on the coin and let it cool.  It should lift right out after it is well cooled and the hot melt has set.

Whip hit the nail on the head...definitely the safest route to go. I think that's the way it's done in 101. I haven't refreshed my memory on it in a day or two.
