Scouting & Stumping

Went out scouting for turkey this afternoon & did a little stump shooting. Beautiful day with intermittent rain brought out this rainbow over the Valles Caldera

The rains really brought out the colors. Great day to be outside. Located some turkeys too so Lord willing next weekend I will run into them again.

Looks good but has some of the poorest hunting of anyplace I've been. Game mismanagement. I forgot what it's like to watch for animals at night when driving.

Beautiful area. I had the pleasure of tagging along on a cow hunt that was on the Valles Caldera Preserve. Never seen so many elk in my life.

Beautiful pics! Thanks for sharing, your season rivals our New England autumn color.

Glad you posted that second picture. Based on the first one, I wasn't sure what you were referring to by "stumping".
That is really pretty country.

The Valles Caldera hunt is one that isn't controlled by game & fish. It is controlled by the Caldera and they are doing it right. Lots of elk and big elk too by lottery drawing.
Don't want to sound like sour grapes but the stats and hunts by friends show the poor quality of New Mexico game.
