I'd like to thank everyone who replied, I appreciate all the advice. What a great site this is.
Someone mentioned bear having QC issues as of late, are we talking about bows coming apart? My dad shot a grizzly for years and I used to like shooting that bow back in the day. He also shot Ben pearsons, nostalgia kinda draws me to those brands. Are the newer bears to be avoided? Also how old is too old when buying used?

I'd buy a used custom from the get go. A lot of exceptional deals in the classified section. I think it gives you a better chance of getting a better bow to start with with better resale. I think you'll be just fine with #45 and may never want for more.

I have owned three vintage Grizzly's over the years. I must admit they are one of my favorites. I have been able to pick up some nice bows from the 60's and early 70's. I really like my early 70's Super Grizzly as it is the only one I did not sell. Stuctually sound is the key to buying a vintage bow. Some of the best Ive got at yardsales, flea markets and consignment shops.
