ASAT Leafy Suit
« on: October 30, 2014, 08:19:00 PM »
First you don't have to convince me Asat works but I want more info on the leafy suit.  How dose it fit (big,to size...) and dose it interfere with the bow string?

I'm 5'9" and 180 lbs, and the large works well for me. I can wear it over heavy clothes for cold weather, and its not too baggy in warm weather over shorts and a t shirt. I do wear an arm guard to keep it off my string.

Where can one buy one of these suits?  I don't see ASAT clothes much anymore.

Buy direct at asatcamo.com
They are sized to fit over clothes/jacket and so run big. I don't use an arm guard and have no problems. No problem shooting with their leafy face mask at all.
Good info on the site and the owners are good people.

I had one and ASAT was kind enough to let me return it. The area I hunt is rose, crabapple and assorted thorny berry bushes. I didn't want to trash a $140 piece of hunting clothing. So I'm sticking with my standard ASAT. Sure looks like it would work, but the suit did not get along with all the "GOTCHA" bushes I hunt in.

I bought the entire 3 piece suit for western elk, and soon left the hat and bottoms back at camp.  No problems shooting with a good arm guard.  I had elk 5-10 FEET away that would stop and stare, then relax when they couldn't smell me.

Hey, Gooserbat. The next time you're in Muskogee, if you go to Bow Pro Shop, they sell the ASAT leafy suits. I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you tried it on. Shoot me a PM if you need to know where it is, or if I can help you out.

If you search around on the web, you can find some  sites selling the full suit for slightly cheaper; they also come up used on occasion.

I've had one for 4 years. Have had no issues with fitment; as mentioned, they run slightly baggy on purpose so they can fit over clothes. Mine has been used many times and in lots of environments; it is holding up well, only the area around my wrists has started to fray a little bit.

I've found the lower part of the pants snag on various things, so I stopped using them; however, if you wear rubber boots, you could probably tuck them in. No complaints with the mask, though I stopped using it awhile back and just use CarboMask on my face with a shemagh or neck gaiter.

I've had deer incredibly close while wearing this leafy suit. It definitely works.

My only real complaint is that the synthetic material the leafy parts are made out of, combined with the light tan used as the base color for ASAT, tends to stand out in low-light conditions. It is a bit too light in my opinion and unlike say wool or another natural fiber, it doesn't absorb light and blend in well. So just be aware of your surroundings and how you blend in during these lighting conditions.

I bought one at the beginning of the season off amazon. Cheaper than buying direct plus I'm pretty sure I got free shipping. I'm 6'2" and 240 and the XL fits me good and has room to layer some heavier sweat shirts under it. Don't think I would try a heavy winter parka though. The pants are a little long even for me but I normally tuck them into my boots while walking anyway. An arm guard is definitely helpful to keep the leaves away from the string.

Once you get it I found it helpful to turn inside out and throw in the washing machine with some jeans and tennis shoes for a couple washes then into the dryer on tumble dry no heat. Helped to break in the material and quiet it a little bit.
