Up hill battle

I use a drag rope that i attach to the back of my harness and start hauling.

If you're really worried about it, then quarter him and pack it out.

Or you can man up and toss it over your shoulder.  HA!

Lotsa long rope. Pulley at the top of the hill, or as high as you can get it. Use your weight as well as your strength to pull it uphill while you head downhill. Tie it off, reposition rope, do another segment. This is how outfitters got loads up over mountains in the Alaska gold rush.

BEST way?  D-9 Cat tractor.  Best Primitive way?  Travois -- two long sticks, some cord, and some muscle.

Believe it or not Centuar, you can't quarter animals in all states prior to registration.  I think that just changed in Wisconsin this year.  Check with your state game dept. before doing this.

I agree with Centaur. You're going to have to cut it up anyways, might as well do it early and avoid the extra weight. I've also found it to easier for me to carry them out whole versus dragging them uphill, less friction.
