Looking to purchase a new treestand
« on: November 24, 2014, 08:16:00 PM »
I'm in the market to purchase a new climbing stand in the near future. I currently use an older summit viper, it has the adjustable foot straps that you slid your toes under and the elastic cord that goes over your heel to keep the stand attached to your feet.  I have saved up the cash to purchase any of the climbing stands available and based on the threads and info I have researched I'm looking at a Lone Wolf. My question is for those that have used the newer stands that don't allow your feet to be attached to the base, have any of you had the bottom section of the stand come off of your boots? I always use the rope to connect the top and bottom sections together but always wondered if this was an issue with the newer stands that don't have the foot straps.

The side straps on the Lone Wolf keep the bottom section from falling.  They also secure the seat once you are done climbing.

Lone Wolf comes with cinch straps with buckles on each side to keep both pieces together incase of a mishap.  But, to answer your question. I've never had a bottom fall using the feet under the bar method.  Not that it couldn't happen but taking it slow adds to quietness and safety.  Wear your harness
