That is a really neat tribute Ben.  I barely met Don, I work as a biologist for the Alaska Dept of Fish and Game, and he was our/my commissioner, must have been in the late 1980's early 1990's.  If you don't mind I know some folks that likely still have contact with his family, I could pass this along.  I'm sure they would be touched.

I don't frequent compound bow sites but I would bet they do not have the love and feelings that this forum has for our fellow bowhunters and the gear we use to hunt with.Good job Ben and glad you are back with your adventures.Kip

What a great tribute to a fellow brother of the bow. Good on you. A fine story indeed. Thanks for posting.

Amazing what I can find here while stumbling through the search engine looking for something else.
I missed this when it was posted because I was away on a hunt myself at that time. But I'm sure glad that I found it now.

Wonderful story Ben.  You have a magical way with words and this take was as good as any regular hunting story ever told.  I'm sure that Don enjoyed it immensely and approves of your care of his limbs.

Wow.  Great tribute.  We should all hope that the folks who KNOW US care as much about us as you cared about Don...whom you never met.  Beautiful.
