Bear Kodiak age
«
on:

I just had a friend offer me a Bear Kodiak 60" 50@28". He believes it is from the 50-60's. I am super excited to get my hands on it. The serial number is DJ619. Can some give me an idea of what year it might be.
Thanks

It's definitely pre-1965.
1965-69 serials started with a number, all 70's models started with a K.
Does it have a leather grip on it? That would put it in the 50's. You'd need to look more in depth at what decal is on it, etc. Here is a link with some good general info.

They're going to want photos of the riser, tips (with overlays), logos, and shelf. All of these are crucial to dating the older Bears. There are some true experts, collectors, and refinishers on the History/Collecting forum.

Are you sure it is a 60 inch bow...a D prefix often indicates a 64 inch bow

I happen to have a couple 1956 and a couple 1957 Kodiaks that the serial no. start with the letter D. All 4 are 60"
