What limbs for Hoyt buffalo?

I am looking to get some lighter weight target limbs. Around 30# should I get the formula excel or the 720 the 720 is 50 dollars more. Are they worth it for recreational shooting at range? Would I notice a difference between the two? And what would that difference be?

I believe the 720's incorporate a carbon lam or two into the limb construction.  This will yield a slightly lighter mass slightly thinner cross section limb for an equivalent draw weight vs the wood/glass Excels.  You might notice a marginal difference in smoothness and performance.  Probably blind folded it might be hard to tell, I'm not sure if the difference is as stark as say Samick's glass/wood vs carbon/wood ILF limbs.  If you've never tried either you prolly can't go wrong with either choice, if you have the extra $50 you might just spring for the 720's.  If you wanna get into some neat hi-po stuff for your Buff' you might check out the limb offerings from Uukha, they make Formula adapters for their ILF limbs.

Carbon and construction,Formula Excel are a glass/wood limb and Formula 720 are a carbon/wood.For recreation both will do fine,the 720 may have a slight performance advantage with the carbon.The 720 limbs also come in an ILF version,if you get the 720 make sure they are for the Formula series.Also those limbs are rated for a 25" riser so on the Buffalo's 19" riser it will add around 6#.So to get around 30# you will want 24# limbs to give you around 30# or so.Maybe look for some 30# or 35# Buffalo limbs,Buffalo limbs have carbon in them.

Hoyt also put out the new Carbon Ace limbs. These have their high end materials at what I believe is a competitive market price... a rarity for Hoyt. The carbon Quattros are super sexy but the are super spendy as well.
