Stained or dyed bird's eye maple?
« on: December 30, 2014, 12:07:00 AM »
Wondering if anyone has a bow with stained or dyed Birdseye.  Riser or limbs.  I have seen plenty of Birdseye bows, but do bit recall seeing it in anything other than he natural blond.  I know it is a popular choice in guitar bodies, but am not interested in an electric blue bow.
But be sure you live out the message and do not merely listen to it and so deceive yourself - James 1:22

Top riser is Birdseye, bottom is Tigerstripe. It does not take a lot of stain (as in darkness) to make them "pop". Hope it gives you an idea.

Dye it rather than staining it.  Stain obscures the grain a bit but dye makes it pop.  I don't have a pic and it probably wouldn't show that well anyhow, but I stained bird's eye maple limbs black on a longbow.  I named it spot.  From a distance it just looks black, but up close and in bright light you can see the spots.  Kind of like a black leopard.  Black on black is subtle but interesting.
