What classifies as a "forward" riser?
« on: January 16, 2015, 05:53:00 PM »
Just wonder what you guys consider as a forward riser glass bow?

Most interested in hybrids than anything else but will take any answers you give. Seems there are tons of recurves with forward risers, but not so many hybrids and long bows.

Brands, pics and reasons why you think their considered forward risers would be great and informative.

Thanks

All bows with the end of the liimb wedges before the grip throat could be considered as forward risers .
Some bows, like Timberghost or Steppe Eagle model from Eagle wing or Black Widow have a more forward riser due to the belly mount limbs.

I am always amused how people focus on one element of a bow without talking about the rest of the bow...one of the benchmark bows for so-called forward riser d/r longbows is the Shrew...they also include rather a rather radically reflexed limb as do many custom bows of similar configuration...Bear has been making a couple of similar recurves for a long time in the Kodiak Magnum and the Super Magnum...my Hoyt Desperado, with a reflexed aluminum riser, might also be considered a "forward riser" bow...my favourite forward riser bow is the Border Covert Hunter

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

In my opinion the grip is the most important aspect in determining how shootable a bow is for me. It's where I focus my attention as well.

Here is a hybrid long bow with a forward riser.

Once you get the deepest part of the grip in front of the fades it's considered a forward grip location.
