Looking at an archery elk hunt in Wy this fall.  Anyone have any info on Unit 24.  I am one short of max points and mat be able to draw that unit in the special draw.

Green Mountain has elk, but it is roaded. If you are looking for a 'wilderness' kind of hunt, other areas may be more appealing. When I lived in Casper, lots of road hunters liked Green Mountain. Wasn't my cup of tea.
You might consider area 36 or 37 in the Bighorns; there are roads, but you can get away from crowds, and they are general areas for residents (OTC license).
If you aren't upset with some grizzlies for neighbors, 67 and 68 near Dubois are good areas.

I agree, I only have hunted 37 in the bighorns but loved it and seemed pretty remote if you will put in the miles.

I am no expert on 24 but have measured some big elk out of there and know more than one person that loves it.

Those big bulls often migrate between Green and Ferris, especially in late season..

I have hunted Wilderness areas and while it is a nice hunt it's not what I am looking for on this hunt.  Looking for a place I can do a solo hunt from a base camp near the road .  I was told that with an ATV I could get around and away from the road hunters and get into elk.  Not interested in playing with the bears and wolves while out there by myself.

I'm going to be out there on an Antelope hunt this fall so I might just draw a point this year and then scout for a unit while on my antelope hunt.

If not looking for the wilderness experence then 24 is for you. Centaur is correct there are quite a few road hunters there but get off the road and it is what elk hunting should be. Lots of elk and bugling bulls, and as Randy said some very nice bulls. I would not hesatate to draw 24 again and hunt it. I never saw another hunter in the woods the year I hunted. What roads there are, are rough and rocky a mountain bike, jeep or ATV will save wear and tear on your vehicle. Stay in the right spot and just hunt out of camp. G&F says no but there are wolves in the greens, nothing like further west though.
