ambidextrous Mller Hawk

Hello,
I am in line for a Dave Miller concave/convex Hawk.
I shoot left handed and will probably never shoot right handed though I am somewhat ambidextrous. My thought is I'm not a young fella anymore and have three right handed sons that shoot longbows.  If the Hawk was dual sided they could enjoy the bow when  I am no longer able to. The dual shelves would be 1/8" opposed to 1/4".  What is your opinion? Any down sides that I may not be seeing?

Assuming Dave will build it, I think it's a great idea. Heck, especially if you are somewhat ambidextrous. I have a friend who is getting up in age and switched to left hand because of a bad shoulder. May be another reason it makes sense for you?

I have a right hand Miller Hawk and absolutely can say nothing bad about it. They are truly awesome bows.

In general a bow that is cut that far from center is going to be a bit more difficult to spine match arrows for...I have two dual shelf bows and they work rather nicely...I have them because I shoot both right and left handed

If your concerned about the strength factor, ask Dave's recommendation for wood in the handle. Osage is among the strongest wood for a handle.

Don't see why a doubled sided shelved bow wouldn't work just fine.  Many cultures (Scythian, Turkish, Egyptian, English, Mongol etc.) built bows without shelves, but narrowed handles, for thousands of years which can be shot off either side.
