He is not.  Been a few posts lately about it.  I invested in a great northern grinder since he got out of it and have been doing my own.  Not too bad and enjoyable to do.

To anyone grinding their  own fletchings ,PLEASE use a good filter mask,        the dust can be very bad for your health.(even if you have a dust        collector, get and use a filter mask)

I purchased some full length, pre ground natural feathers, and a feather chopper from Ted @ Raptor Archery. Great guy to deal with and fun to talk to!

I have been grinding my own for a few years now and always use a filter mask although with my beard it doesn't do as much as it should I'd imagine.  So far I've got about 12 dozen done up full length and will be grinding again tonight. Sorry 8 don't do it for pay though. I just wanted to say how easy it is to do yourself with the grinder jig.

Does anyone who grinds have recommendations for a filter to use? I don't want to get any health issues for a bunch of feathers.

Hey everyone, I went and met with Matt and I am taking over his old orders. If anyone is interested in having their feathers ground send me a pm!

I have used the Great Northern Grinding system and it worked really well. I recommend attaching your shop vac to the back of the drill press to cut back on the dust. I bought a shop vac and dust bags to put inside of it pretty cheap and have had very little dust blowing around my garage.

Amen to the dust.  A dear friend of Matt, mine, and many did grinding for years, he set Matt up because his health went in the toilet.

Apparently, the word is there is something in the feather quill and dust that can do some really bizarre and ugly things to one's central nervous system and overall health.
