Accidental EFOC
« on: February 02, 2015, 12:57:00 PM »
My first time seriously diving into archery i bought a 50lb bow that pulled 58 lbs at my draw length. I tried to tune arrows for EFOC without prior arrow tuning experience or any Form and ended up with arrows that were extremely short and still under spined! So you can imagine how hard this was and how discouraged i became, but i didnt give up i went to my nearest walmart and picked up 3 allen carbon arrows.I fletched them with 5 inch parabolic feathers, 125 grain points and began to shoot and work on my form while saving my money and looking for a new arrow set up.
Five months later i finally have a more consistent release a shot process and more focus during my shot. I recently lost my last cheap carbon arrow and decided to purchase more. After learning from my first mistake when i bought a dozen arrows i couldn't use,I went to lancaster archery and purchased 3 goldtip velocity s 400s to test. I also bought a pack of 125gr ace adapter inserts,160 grain glue on points, 5.5 inch banana fletching and i used a 25 grain 2 inch footing.
Immediately the bare shafts were going were i aimed but weak. So i gave them a .25 inch trim and shot several more shots i ended up trimming bout a .75 off and bare shafting from 30 yards. The flight looks amazing im Extremely happy! I fletched them up last night and just shot them its like watching a laser.  Im very proud of myself and my gear.
Now to address the title of this post, my finished arrows weight is between 565-570 grains. And my Foc is 24.4%... I accomplished EFOC without even trying!
That just puts the icing on The cake for me. Now im not sure if the pure EFOC will increase penetration at all without the arrow being 650 or more but i am satified ..very satified. I just wanted to share with you guys my little happy accident. Please comment and give your opinions Thanks.

Nice.  Glad it worked out.  Getting that arrow tuned is a great feeling.  I wonder what % of FOC is considered extreme?  I thought you were in the normal range with 24.4%.

Always fun to have success and learn along the way, congrats!  I love tuning arrows to bows and vice verse...it's a hobby in and of itself.
