New glove purchase
« on: February 10, 2015, 09:36:00 PM »
Hi everyone, I'm looking to get a new shooting glove and have a little dilemma. I'm currently using an Alaska bowhunting supply Super Glove, unfortunately they are going to stop making that glove and they only ones I can find are size small and I need a medium. I have some finger damage and need a glove with maximum protection on my middle and ring fingers. My bow is 50lbs and I shoot with a deep hook on the string.  I tried the dura glove from 3rivers and the finger stalls seem a little short for my liking, I don't need to be able to feel the bowstring with the new glove, any suggestions??

You might take a look at the   Black Widow Stick Tight- Super Glove  . I just received the version that doesn't have the finger overlays. I haven't got to shoot with it yet but I can say that its a quality piece. I also have problems with numb fingers due to carpel tunnel and after pulling and letting down my 45# bow about thirty times in a row with it on I experienced zero discomfort or numbness. It has mild string feel. I could feel exactly where the string was on my fingers, but just barely. I would assume the Super model would be even more comfortable but with even less string feel. Also the finger stalls are very long, perfect if you like a deep hook.

I used the superglove  for years.. recently  switched to the Bearpaw glove sold at Kustom King.. not quite as thick but I love that glove. Good protection  and a great release.. not as durable as the superglove but much cheaper. They make. 2, one is buffalo leather with Cordura and. One is all material. Both are good but I like the leather one better.

I just looked at Kustom  King  and they say the Black Glove  is suited for a deep hook.. i just looked at both my gloves and the stalls are identical  in length.  The black glove is "somewhat" insulated and. More waterproof

If you shoot bows in the 60 pound range, the Kustom King (IMO) is too thin for sustained shooting. The BW supergove is better and provides a deeper hook.

Big shot from American Leathers. Thick stalls will last you years. To me it lets me have a cleaner and smoother release.

X2 on the BW Stick Tight. The PDQ is a great glove as well.

Just over a year ago I went to Neet Products and asked if they could put cordovan overlays on their deerskin glove.  In doing so they ended up with a glove that is a perfect replacement for the older SuperGlove from Alaska Bowhunting Supply.  The cordovan is higher quality than the ones ABS had made recently and it is all Made in USA.  The only issue I've seen is it runs slightly small so most customers order one size up.  Great glove to replace the Super glove.

Another vote for the American Leathers Big Shot. Mine is at least six years old and still going string.

I tried and tried to shoot with the Howard Hill glove, but I could never feel the string with it and it just didn't work for me. It might be just what you are looking for.

I absolute love the Bear Paw/Kustom King Black Glove.  Great for deep hook, soft flexible but durable material, enough protection and super slick/quiet release.  Great string feel vs many of the other gloves.  Big Shot is great quality but IMHO only suited to bows 60# and up, too numb for my taste.

I'm a fan of stick tite glove on the BW site..no nylon stalls - shooting one for 3 years thousands of shots and going strong....little shoot in time to break in but quality and great price too!

I have an American Leathers Big Shot Crossover I got from Big Jim's and really like it.  It would add super protection to your fingers is it has nylon in between buffalo leather for added protection.  You may inquire about the stalls if they would be long enough for a deep hook.  It's well made and very comfortable once broken in.

I had the dura love as well and found the finger stalls to short, went with the mesh glove which they started carrying recently and the finger stalls are much longer, works great for me and you can't beat the price at 9.99!!!

Thank you to all that posted suggestions for my new glove, I actually found a member that responded to my post that has a brand new medium superglove that he is willing to part with.  Thanks again for taking the time to help me out with some suggestions, I can't say enough about the people on this site.
