Arrows for #45 Checkmate Crusader?
« on: February 16, 2015, 07:57:00 PM »
Hi guys,
I have a chekmate crusader longbow on the way #45 at my 26.5" draw.  Looking for a good place to start for arrows. I am wanting to cut my arrows 28-28.5 and use around 150r points.  Thinking of using 1535 gold tips with weight tubes to get 480gr total arrow weight?  What do you guys think? I am open to other suggestions too...

I shoot the exact same draw and poundage and I am shooting CE Heritage 90's cut 29 inches and 175 grain tips and standard insert.   My arrows weigh 486 grains.

I feel cutting a carbon arrow to a certain length can be a hit or miss getting the right spine for bow. With carbon arrows I let my tuning determine the final length of my arrow.

Try out the 3 Rivers Archery Spine Calculator.  Its pretty accurate and saves alot of time tuning new arrows. Using the calculator at least gets you close enough to good arrow flight that adjustments of brace height should get your arrows flying straight.

15/35 should be fine.Start long and cut a little at a time.A .600 spine shaft was made for 40-50 lb stick bows, depending on draw length of course.

Try a 2016 with a .145 head, and 28.5"long. Good GPI,economical, and I would bet that arrow would fly great out of your set-up.  rat'
