my first bears!
« on: February 21, 2015, 08:11:00 PM »
I just took delivery today of my first two bear bows! One is a 1971ish 45# kmag and the other is a mid 70s 50# kmag. The 45# is mint and the 50# is in good shape despite some drilled holes. I've shot them both and have fallen in love! I've wanted a bear for a long time and as luck would have it I got two at once. The 50# is my new fishing bow I'm not sure what plans are for the 45#.

I know they are nothing special but they are to me. The mailman handed me the 45# first so I'll call it my first bear bow and the other my second!

I already feel why so many fall in love with these bows...I'm overwhelmed with questions and thoughts. Who bought this bow new? Where was it bought? How many animals were put on the table with this bow? Was this bow responsible for so many memories and now it's up to me to make new ones? Very cool but I wish I knew for sure...

The grip feels and even looks thinner on the 50#. Did bear change the grips a bit on these over the years?

I have quite a few of those Bear bows and the grip size was different also in different bows of the same years, they were refinished by hands by different workers,so the differences in the grips.

Thanks I didn't think about how the grip and riser would are hand shaped so they could be slightly different person to person
