On the count down....Another adventure

G'day guys,

Well yet again I'm counting down the weeks ( 23 from today in fact! ) for another overseas adventure. This time im taking my new partner Karen back to Namibia, Africa.

Our plans are to spend the first 8 days doing a self drive and camping in a 4x4 seeing and doing all the sights of what Namibia has to offer.

Then we will be picked up for the second part of the trip to head on a hunt with the same operation I hunted with last time. Here is the link to my hunt back in 2013...

I'll be hunting again with my Huntsman recurve, Arrow dynamics shafts and Tuffheads. Karen will be rifle hunting on another part of the property and has her sights set on a good Gemsbok and Zebra. I'm bless to have such a wonderful woman now who enjoys the outdoors and adventures as much as I do.

As with anything like this... Part of the fun is the planning stage and I've been booking 4x4 car hire, camp sites and doing general homework to make this trip into something special for us both.

I'm sure though... My hunting & taxidermy bill will be cheaper then Karen's!

One thing I am 100% certain on is that we need to live life to the fullest. This was only recently pointed out when one of Karen's close friends has been given 12 months to live due to cancer... At 41 years of age and who use to run marathons and a gym junkie.

Life is short and in my mind and as said by Ken Beck from BW Bows.... "We aught to grow old with good memories".

But yeh, Africa this year and then back to BC in 2016 for bears again.

Well guys... it will be 6 weeks today when we fly out agin the Namibia, Africa for out holiday and seven day hunt at the end.

I thought I'd better start getting some gear ready as Im changing a few things up this time in the BH department, of which I started another thread. I plan to use these;


 


As you can see, my back yard practice target is all reading to go. I finally got some local hey bales to enable me to shoot out to 22m. I normally head down to the dunes to shoot BHs.
(We only moved back into our house near the beach 2 months ago...gee I hate moving!)

 


Whilst I was sorting through my gear the phone in the house rang and I rushed off to answer it, upon my return I found this...


 

Our two Cattle dog blue heelers were going crazy at something in my arrow case, I'm thinking its a bit of blood on the fletching from my last deer I shot...

 

Some back yard practice along with re fletching another dozen AD Traditional shafts will be in order the next day or so.
