Not another spine question!
« on: February 24, 2015, 02:52:00 PM »
Ok so I have a toelke SS that pull 56#pounds at my 30"dl. I shoot 340 spine easton powerflights 31.5" with a 50grn brass insert and a 150grn field point/ bh. So total weight up front = 200grns. My arrows seem to fly true and hit relatively well within the general area I am aiming 2-7inch groups depending on the day and level of concentration

Now I know I need to work on form and maybe a little fine tuning but reading some of the forums here Im doubting myself with the 340 spine. Should I reconsider my spine selection, I seem to be shooting them straight and true

Apologies for posting yet another spine question

Have you bare shafted at all with that setup? Im playing with gt kenetics 32.5 inch 300 spine 100gr insert 300gr fieldpoint for a total of 706 gr .out of a bama  hunter 65lb at 29 inches. So far at 10 yards bare shaft its a lazer. Remember those longer inserts act like footers and seem to stiffen the arrow a bit. Sounds like you have a fine setup, and if its consistant id say your good.

Yo! My Superstatic was 55@30 and I shot 31" GT 5575 trads with 175 up front and they bareshafted like darts. Perfect arrow flight from that setup.

Thanx all for the confirmation, I have bare shafted and they fly just fine to me. Time to stop doubting and looking for possible mistakes and start enjoying more   :knothead:

I am currently shooting a carbon express 350 .324 spine at 32 1/2" w 250 up front from a 57lb bow. They bare shafted slightly weak with no wrap or fletch. If they don't fly straight it's usually because of my release or torquing the bow. Thinking you are right on the money

When in doubt.... strip a couple shafts and bare shaft test them... it may be as simple as adjusting your strike thickness.....

Different bows are going to test differently bro. I have a new set up that i've been playing with that is only 45# @30" & I've had good luck with 3555's shooting well out of other bows of this draw weight. So i grabbed a few fletched arrows and shot them.....It looked like i was getting good arrow flight, but.... i was getting too many unexplained fliers.... When i came off the string perfect they were dead on, but couldn't explain the fliers at all.  So i went back in and got some bare shafts the same length and tip weight, and the dad burn things were flying sideways! WAY too weak.... I ended up having to go up to 5575's on this rig....   I'd check it out with bare shafts bro...
