Barry, I had to drive to Michigan today and will miss opening weekend, but in the rain and wind today I saw at least six different toms in 3 states in open fields but all in the SW corner of the field, close to the tree line...may the treeline broke up  the wind. So if its still blowing tomrrow AM, maybe the SW corner of your horsepasture.

Great advise from others. Call softly and sparingly. Set up over a rise so he can't see the hen (you) till he has to get close. I have killed a few easterns set up 100 yards from the roost. Just be very quiet and go in when it's dark. I don't call at them on the roost most of the time. If you do and he's alone he will sometimes stay on the roost waiting on you (the hen) to come to him. I say sometimes cause turkeys are unpredictable and just when I think I have them figured out they do the opposite. If he has hens with him try and engage the boss hen. Match her note for note and sometimes she will come looking for a fight dragging him along with her.
