Tuning help

Hoping some of you fellas can help explain what I'm seeing with the whole process of tuning arrows and different release styles. For the most part I've been shooting 3 under with my nock point at +5/8".  With either bow my arrows are showing weak spine regardless of point weight, the arrows I've been using are Easton 1916's, CE 150's and 250's. I've been shooting bare shafts at about 15 feet, all arrows are way nock left.........then I tried shooting split and all the arrows are showing much closer to straight maybe a tad nock left, except the 250's which are now nock right. Does changing release change the tune that much? Am I maybe having contact issues when shooting 3 under? Should I just roll with it or am I maybe missing a variable besides spine related issues?

Hopefully you are shooting with your bow straight up and down.  If you cant the bow when you shoot then spine and nock placement get confused.

I do tend to cant my bow a bit, I didn't realize that would throw me off so much

I discovered that my release was very problematic with 3 under and could not get reliable tuning results because of my release-- sounds like what is going on with you.  When I changed to split-- my style is 2 under w index finger not really pulling just resting on top of arrow-- I immediately got good results and was able to tune.  I do know many do very well w 3 under and am not knocking it-- it just didn't work for me.  Sounds like you also saw a change in results.

I think the release style has a lot to do with it. My longbow is tuned for shooting split I get perfect bullets through paper and my bare shafts hit straight with my fletched arrows. When I switch to 3 under I raise my nock point to 5/8 and get a nock left tear through paper  and I can visibly see my arrow kicking tail left and impacting to the right. I beleive a stiffer arrow is needed for three under the rear downward pressure is greater thus requiring a stiffer shaft.
My recurve  bow shows the same thing. When I shoot it split I use a 165 point when changing to 3under I require a 125 gr. point weight.

I think I'm going to make the switch to shooting split, I tend to shoot with split vision which is a form of gaping I suppose so 3under was working, but by moving my anchor up a bit my sight picture is pretty close to what it was with 3 under. Thanks for the info fellas.

That's what I did too. With 3 under I would anchor my index finger on my canine tooth. After deciding to switch back to split I anchor with my middle finger touching my canine tooth.
The tooth because it's bone And doesn't move. The corner of the mouth is soft tissue and can be inconsistent . Like you said sight pic is almost the same. The bow is quieter shooting split and I feel its faster and more control over the arrow.
