Longbow riser question....

What can you tell me about the shootability of a longbow with this particular shape. I dn't know the right terminoligy so excuse the poor use of words, but would a bow that has a higher deflex as this one does be more forgiving? What does the straighter looking limbs associate with stack as compared to a more curved limb? Does a bow as such have less speed because of deflexed design? really like this look but don't know much about it. thanx for any info

That design looks like it will be a good perfromer.Plenty of reflex in the limbs. The deflex part may appear to be more than you think because of the hump in the riser. And yes a good price.

I have one on order and have shot JK bows. I can tell you this, there is NO stack and the bows are extremely forgiving. Believe me, I need lots of forgiveness. They are also fast and easy draw. My cousin has a 52# that feels more like a 45 to draw, but has the speed of a 52.

The only downside that I can think of is the 18 week wait.

I think this may become my first custom made bow, maybe 53-55 pounds at 27 inch draw in the spring camo. what a beauty!!!

I had an early JK Traditions bow and it was a great shooter and plenty fast.  Jason has been working to improve his bows, as most bowyers do, and I have no doubt that his new Kanati shows that improvement.  These hybrid design bows are very good hunting tools.

Jason continues to tweek his basic design. He has stopped using the carbon lamination in his bows. I asked him about this and how it effects the performance of the bows. He said it didn't have any effect on the performance, but it did make the bow quieter. I find this amazing because I have shot one of the early carbon lam bows and was impressed with how quiet it was! One other thing I forgot to add. The bow I shot was a 56", but even so there was ZERO finger pinch! I have shot longer bows that had significant pinch. I ordered a 58" which I think will be the ideal size. Short enough to be handy but long enough to be butter smooth.

This is my first custom as well. I debated between the spring camo and the leaf brown. I went with the brown, but the spring sure looks nice. Maybe next time.  :D

I am trying to decide on 58 or 60, I pull 27 inches and he recommends the 56 ,but I have always shot 60 I think I am gonna try a 58 this time. 18 weeks aint bad heck some of them I checked out were talking a year and paying double what JK is asking. I think his bows look very high quality, I realy like the design as well. (in your sig I noticed)I have a Herters perfection but mine is 75 pounds. It makes a nice wall ornament!!!!

Yup, I would hang a 75 on the wall and admire it too. Herters made a good bow, not fast by today's standards, but sufficient and accurate, still a good old bow. My son loves it!

Actually, Jason means those as maximum draw lengths. At 27 inches, you could use any of his bows. I just think the 58 will be the ideal length to be handy and smooth. You could pay a lot more for a bow without getting the performance of a JK bow. Eighteen weeks isn't bad, and I have hunting season to keep me occupied right now. Come January, the days will get longer though I am afraid.
