Fallen warriors
« on: April 19, 2015, 02:11:00 PM »
I found these guys, while out mushrooming. I was making my way up a draw, when sticking up out of a small pool of water I notice some sticks that didn't look quite right. Taking a closer look I was very surprised at what I was looking at. I've never actually found any locked up bucks before. Never found any mushrooms, but very pleased with what I did find.

Dang shame they had to go the way they did, but nature is brutal sometimes!

Good find!

A good friend of mine found nearly identical Bucks locked up and rotten in a small pond in eastern Colorado. He had them cleaned and bleached and European mounted ... They looks awesome !!!!

It's hard to tell if they are ones that I seen during the season, the way they are locked up. I'm not a trail cam user, the neighbors use cams, but their out-of-staters. They may have some pictures. I'm just glad I found them before they rotted away. My son and I were both excited at what we found. I've seen pictures of ones others had found, but this is a first for me.

Sad......but neat that you found them!!

Very nice find. My brother in law found a set while tracking a smaller buck he shot. He called his local C.O. to come meet him at his property. They cut both of the deer at the neck and he now has them mounted in their house. One is a 11 point and the other  is a 15 point. They are some big ones. They appeared to have been dead for less than a month.

I'm hoping I can clean them up and make some kind of mount out of them. It will make for some good conversation.
