Samick Sage with vanes?

Anyone shooting a Sage and using vanes for hunting? If so, are you shooting from an elevated rest and which one? As always, thanks in advance.

"Back in the Day" (1970's) My friends & I all shot aluminium arrows, fletched with vanes, out of our recurves!!!!! We all used the rubber Bear Weatherests and our arrows shot just fine out to 30yrds. (talking consistantly hitting a paper plate)

With todays arrows all being fletched cock feather up, they say you can shoot right off the shelf. I shot 3-D with a guy shooting vanes that way last year & couldn't see any problems with his arrow flight...

A Weatherest is about $4-$5... I'd say pick one up & try both ways!!!

My best friend shoots a lot of his arrows from his Sage with vanes and somehow they fly great. He shoots it straight off the shelf, and you couldn't tell the difference between vanes and feathers. They fly great.

Thanks for the replies and just to make it clear, I know it can be shot with vanes, just want to know if anyone is doing it and with what method.    

I think I will give it a go off the shelf first, then try and pic an elevated method. Was thinking of the NAP Flipper rest but, had troubles in the past with keeping the arrow from falling off it!

I have a Sage and started out shooting it with vanes and the NAP Flipper rest.  The combo worked great.  Really no arrow spin at all...they flew like darts and really hit hard.
Now I shoot off the shelf and replaced all my vanes with feathers.
To me, the arrow flight is more "graceful" now.  Sounds silly I know...but part of the fun of archery for me is watching the arrow and it's flight.

Thanks Joe. I am wanting to use vanes for Oregon's rainy late season. Most likely will stay with feathers for the early season.
