Big Shot or Big Shot Crossover?
« on: May 19, 2015, 10:12:00 AM »
Thinking about purchasing a new glove and I'm not sure which of the 2 gloves to buy. My bows are in the mid 60#'s range.  3 Rivers has a size chart, my hand measures between 7.5"-8", so L or XL? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

i went with the Crossover, because i like the nylon reinforcements sewn into the inside of the finger stalls, rather than outside. my hand is about the same as yours, and i went with the XL. mine is not as tight as some people suggest, but it fits me perfectly. you could probably manage either the L or XL. they say it stretched out over time, but i just liked the XL better. they will exchange it for you if it doesn't fit though. you won't regret the investment. i love mine!

Crossover as well. For both my 65 and 80 lb longbows. I like the leather over the nylon. And my fingers thank me afterwards.

Crossover for me. If you question your size. Get with John at American Leathers. You can send him a hand tracing and he will make sure you are fitted right.

Never shot a Crossover and don't pull anything close to mid-60's. With that said, I am very happy with my "Big Shot" gloves. In fact, I just purchased another one from the classifieds on Sunday that will be delivered tomorrow. My hand size is very similar to yours and the XL was to large for me. The large is tight but just to my liking.   :campfire:

I went from a BigShot to a Crossover shooting mid 50s.    After a sort break in it was really nice....ymmv

You're mid 60s would easily warrant the Crossover.

Gentlemen thanks for the input!! I will definitely contact John at American Leathers about the size I need. I just read another thread saying he will be offering a Kangaroo version of the crossover, supposed to be lighter, I may have to give that try.

I love my big shot drawing low-mid 50's..... That being said, once they release the Kangaroo crossover I'll be placing a order. Big shot handles just fine, but I still plan on moving up in weight(not to mention I'm a hammerhead and ordered the wrong size)

Crossover for me also, as stated above I like the stalls sewn into the leather. I shoot mid 60's lb recurve and with a deep hook my fingers are fine.
I tried the bigshot but just liked the crossover better.

Have both and may be odd man out but I much preferred the big shot. Felt that the nylon on the outside was noticeably slicker than the leather on the crossover and could hook the string better. The crossover stalls just felt too stiff even after shooting it a bunch.

Decisions...Decisions!! HaHa!  Right now I'm using the Cordovan Traditional Glove that 3 Rivers offers. It protects the fingers but I can't feel the string as well as I would like to.  I shoot 3 under so the bottom finger gets a lot of pressure. Like y'all say, I'll be happy with either glove. Thanks again for the help fellas.

I just ordered a cross over in Kangaroo and have been using a big shot I will see soon if I like the cross over. I do know that the kangaroo leather is very long lasting for how thin it is and is one of the best leather out there.
