attaching branches to tree stands

Any tips or hints on what you do?
I was thinking of plastic pipe cut at angle and zip tied.

All I use is ZIP TIES. I also use an extra rachet strap to strap some bigger branches to the back of the tree just above my plat form.

Some may frown upon this, but I have in the past drilled holes at downward angles into trees to add limbs using a cordless drill and a wood boring bit.

Its very simple and works well. You don't need to drill but about 3 inches deep.

Get a couple of the larger binder clips from an office supply store.

IF you are hunting on PUBLIC LAND, there is a good possibility you are in violation of regulations if you use a screw-in step or drill a hole in the tree.

I just shove them thru the edges of the stands,,, a lot of my stands have carpet matts zip tied to the platform for hunting single digits so I'll just jam the branches under the mats.

I always thought it was more important to have branches up around your body to break the outline a couple bungies around the tree would work for this.

I go around and find old fake Christmas trees and attach them to the platform

A bunch of zip ties are part of my pack every time I go out.  If in a tree there is always some judicious pruning and as I prune in attach them in other areas for cover and also to not let them hit the ground after I've handled them.
If I'm gonna sit on the ground I'll often bend a few saplings or branches making a shooting window.

Yep zip ties work great. Also if you are going to leave the set up for an extended period of time. The plastic leaves from the craft stores work the best.

Timely topic, I found a great tree at the edge of a nice bunch of white oaks but it's super bare. I was thinking about some burlap and paracord behind me, but a few things like in the pictures out front would be great.

Anyone else have pictures of stands you've dressed up this way?

TJ, them plastic leaves sound funny to deer in the wind?

Thought Lone Wolf made something for attaching branches to your stand.

I just run a couple tight bungees on the bottom of the stand.  Make an "X" and it will hold the limbs from every direction.  If you use the heavy black ones they will last for years. On your way in to the stand grab a couple limbs to replace any that are on the stand that have dried out.    When you move the stand, no tools or cutters needed to remove the limbs.
