Hello everyone!
About 3 months ago I contacted Josh (Oliverstacy custom strings) for him to make a couple of strings for a new to me Tall Tines recurve. After some planning regarding string color and serving size he sent out two strings my way.
I don't live in the US so I had someone who was visiting the States bring the strings for me. Everything went perfectly: I got the strings, tuned them but then had a problem with the serving on one of them. I still don't know how, but the serving started to unravel about 3" from the bottom. I hadn't any tools, jig or extra serving material to re serve it so I contacted Josh to see what I could do on my end since I, under no condition, thought it had been a problem on his behalf: the strings were impecable.
His reply to such problem was outstanding and without hesitation offered to rebuild the strings, both strings! and re ship them to me directly with the upcharge that overseas shipping implied. I agreed and asked him how much the strings plus extra shipping would be. His answer to this was: "Don't worry about the cost...they'll be replacement strings. Not worried about the money...just want you to be happy with the purchase you made a while back!"
I don't know him personally and have only communicated with him through E-mails but I can tell he's as good a guy as the business he runs! He even offered to twist the strings with different colors than the original two and put on a different serving material as well. I got the "replacement" strings today and they are flawless. Thank you Josh!
Just wanted to let everyone know about my experience. Custom Flemish Strings by Oliverstacy and Josh Sowerby is one more on the very few highly esteemed businesses and people on my list. There is no doubt as to why Brian Wessel supplies his bows with Josh's strings.
Thank you for reading,
Patrick.
