schulz bows
« on: July 04, 2015, 01:40:00 AM »
I'm curious what the average going rate is for one of the older grandpas in good shape?

I have two and was considering posting one for sale and keeping the 2nd for now.

Hate to even consider selling one, but its crossed my mind a time or two lately.

The parting shots went for 2000-2250 on auction a few were sold privately by Mr.Schulz. One of the parting shots (#5) then showed up on Eb** and sold for just over $800

AkDan,
I just bought a  Granpa in good shape built in late 80's for $600,

I feel that the Parting Shot bows are in a separate category since they were a numbered series of 12.

The E**y bow I don't believe represents the true value, it slipped through the cracks.

I think the answer to your question is $600-$750.of course depending on the condition of course.

I have had these for awhile now, 10 years or so.   Both are in pretty sweet condition.   One was shot the other must not have been shot hardly at all.  I don't shoot them. I bought both when I was in my collecting mode.   Now I'm in my selling mode and trying to decide keep or sell.   You don't see them up for sale much anymore.  I had it in my mind back than I was going to build one.....best laid plans.......

One is unique, John must have reworked it and added another backing over the original.  There's a 'partial backing' piece that stops short of the tip, complete with nodes that were rounded more than normal I'm assuming he smoothed them to make it easier to custom fit a normal backing over it, slightly recessed to fit each node from the partial backing.  I'm assuming it was an error or if it was a repair he completely redid the finish as their is no signs it was ever reworked....either way I've spent a number of nights looking at that one trying to understand it.   Never have found much of an answer to it.

At this point I was mostly just curious if its worth letting them go or keeping them.  for 6 bills I doubt I'd ever sell them

The parting shots were in a league of their own and well out of my price range LOL!  I knew that before they were ever listed I could never touch one.  I forgot about them and saw he has them listed as sold, with no prices the other night.

Thank guys!

Hey Dan,
Weight is another factor
I shoot heavy bows, and my Grandpa is #70 which narrowed the field considerably.

Less people interested in heavy bows, and concern of a 30 year old unglassed bow.

So basically, don't let my deal sway you. My bow had sold for $700 a few months earlier
I say post away and test the waters, I shouldn't be, but I would be interested!
