3-D shot location markers
« on: July 09, 2015, 10:03:00 PM »
Would like to know what other clubs are using for their 3-D shot location markers. Our range has rock, hills and soft ground and the markers have to be able to be moved at different distances, and be very visible. Thanx for the help,....Lloyd

The couple of shoots i went to this spring were put on by the same club.  the target numbers were on a 2-3 foot wooden stake,  the shot locations were marked by plastic fibrous tufts for road surveying? of different colors for the different classes.  The Trad tufts were green and harder to find.

Club I went to a few weeks ago had pieces of rubber mat about four inches square with a landscaping nail holding them down, they weren't the most visible but worked really well because you could stand right on them, they painted them different colors for the different classes. My club uses rebar with a piece of colored tubing on them. Another club I've shot also used rebar but then slid a piece of one inch PVC with a cap on it painted the appropriate color, whole thing was painted, not just the cap.

We use the small orange cones. Used large magic marker to write number on. We use the different color survey flags for Trad, Cubs, and pee wees.

We use a 24" length of 1/2 inch PVC with colored tape wrapped around them at the top for the class colors.  No rebar for us, we drive them directly in the ground.

The club I shoot at uses those garden stakes bent into a circle on top. They come in 3 different colors in think. Not very visible but easy to move. They also have permanent concrete markers step in the ground the longer yardages 40, 50, 60 at some targets. The markers are painted with bright colors and yardages clearly marked.

We use number stakes for the long shots and different colored foam swimming pool noodles cut in 12" pieces slid over rebar in the ground for the other classes. Very visible and cheap.

Usually they have wooden stakes here painted different colors.

Sometimes they have heavy Gauge Steel wire with a  plastic Flag on top.

I'm not sure how you would work something at the Rock areas? Maybe just a cone or some sort of spray paint that doesn't last forever.
Relax,
