i have been bow hunting since i was 16 and am know 18. the first year i killed a doe, and last year which was my second archery year, i killed a button buck and a doe. i decided to go trad this year and last night was my best hunt ever. i got home from college about 6:10 pm with about a half hour of light left. i am able to hunt a tiny piece of land behind my house and the wind was right so i went out. 5 minutes into the hunt two yearlings come busting into the scene trotting around having a good old time. one still had spots so that was cool. they ended up 5 yards from under my stand feeding and playing when a huge doe starts feeding my way from about 60 yards out. as she is coming in, another big doe comes in to 25 yards. a had multiple shots at the bigger yearling and a long 30 yard broadside shot at the biggest doe but they just didn't feel right. as it got dark a tossed a stick down into the brush and scattered them and sneaked out still without my first trad kill. to me, the season became a success last night even without a kill. knowing i could have killed a young deer but passed it on because it just didn't feel right makes me feel just as good as a clean kill. well it finally got cool with nights in the 40's and days in the 60's so maybe my first trad kill will me comin soon! ggod luck and have a safe season!e
