Help Me Find An Old Moose Hunting VHS Video
« on: August 19, 2015, 12:56:00 PM »
I cannot seem to locate my old copy of a great VHS video of a longbow hunt in Alaska for moose.

There were two guys, both from Michigan I believe, one was Gary (?).  They both hunted moose with longbows, ended up shooting big bulls.  As I recall, one of the bulls went down in a marsh and they used their inflatable air mattresses to aid in field dressing and recovery.

They had trouble flying out due to the river icing up early.  The float plane could not land at their location forcing them to move everything to another spot downriver.

I think the same VHS documented hunts from a couple different trips to AK.

It was not professionally produced, but it was a good one nevertheless.

Does that ring a bell?  And, do you know the title and where it is available?

Thank you.

There names are Gary Olsen and Mike Misch and I still have two of their videos the 1994 to 1998 and the 2000 to 2001. They have no formal title or other than the date and it will say Moose Hunt or Caribou hunt. I think you have to find someone who has some as i don't believe they sell them anymore. I might be willing to let one go   :)

Pretty sure I have both, let me check. I do not have a VCR anymore so you are welcome to them if I still have them.

I've seen the video, but don't have a copy.  AA has the names correct.  I believe at least one of them shot a recurve though.

Thank you Arrow 30.  Those first two are the ones.  EXCELLENT.  I sure appreciate it.

Jeff, are these the videos you also have, or are there others?

Yepper those are the ones, I also have a DVD of them bowhunting whitetail in Illinois. I camped with Mike and Gary about 5/6 years ago at the Great Lakes Longbow Invatational, what a good couple of guys. Of course they where both shooting longbows at that event  :D

I have them also, no telling where. One is a float down the Moose John with Jay Massey. It has a scene with Jay knapping out a arrowhead.
