Kuiu Peloton zip jacket - thumb holes?

I ordered some Kuiu clothes. They should be here any day. Looking closer I see the Peloton shirt I ordered has thumb holes. I'm wondering if they can be folded up inside if you don't want to use them? I've never had any clothing with them in or a reason to.
What the heck is the purpose of thumb holes? It looks like it would be really uncomfortable and in the way and wear out. Are you supposed to wear it like that or is just for holding your sleeves in place when putting a layer on top?
I also got the attack pants and some Teton light weight stuff t-shirts.

My First Light tops have the thumb holes and I like them. It keeps the shirt from riding up and isn't in the way at all. Try it out I think you may well like it.

I have them on first lite also and usually don't use them. Doesn't bother me either way.

I have them on some wool long sleeve under shirts and use them when putting a pullover on but then take my thumbs out.

I believe the idea is to keep your wrists warm. You know how cold they get...?
You don't need to use them. I cut the ones I had off a Helly Hansen fleece and sewed the end square. Didn't miss them.

All the thumb-hole shirts I have (FirstLite, SmartWool, etc.) can be worn very comfortably without using them by simply not using them. They ride on the wrist just fine.
Don't sweat it and enjoy the clothes. If you decide to use them they are great for keeping the backs of your hands warmer which, in turn, keeps your fingers warmer.
