The Anticipation
« on: August 29, 2015, 12:04:00 PM »
Although a month away, I am fired up for our season opener!  I have been shooting at least twice a week since last November including a February where we struggled to get into the teens daily.  My 14 month daughter, dog and I have scouted public land weekly. My ground blinds are set and my lone treestand on private land is pruned.  This week I started to work on different scenario shots from seated positions where I needed to wrap around a jogging stroller, to shooting off of my lower roof, to kneeling down!  I whole heartedly cannot wait to get out there and learn this upcoming bow season.  I have set a max range of 16 yards and look forward to taking advantage of the lesson each outing will leave me with.  Good luck to all with your upcoming seasons

I'm originally from Chautauqua County, just south of you. I miss the smell and sounds of the woods in the fall back home. Good luck!!

I feel you man. This year more than anything, Im longing to "hunt" and share time outdoors  with good folks and at the time being, killing is the last thing on my mind.

I think its BS when folks say they've had a successful hunt without killing but I do understand that sometimes just hunting is good enough. Have a great season.

I strongly believe that the anticipation helps complete the whole experience. I usually go elk hunting at this time of year but couldn't this year... The anticipation of deer season that opens here on September 26th is getting me through!

Good hunting.

Yes, it is getting closer and closer to opening day. Today, I checked up on all my stands and have completed repair and shrubbery trimming. I spent some time sitting in each one for a little while just enjoying the woods. Now, if I can shoot as good in real time as I do in my imagination, this season will be off to a good start. Anticipation is a really exciting and important aspect of deer season.

I was out making new ground blinds yesterday and checking and moving cameras.  Can't wait!  Good luck to all!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.
