what to expect?
« on: August 31, 2015, 09:30:00 AM »
I will be getting some broad heads soon. I have not shot broad heads at all with the recurve. my arrow and how are tuned to the best of my ability. what should I look for when I shoot the heads?

They should group with your field tipped arrows.

Just make sure you shoot them, or a couple at least, to see how they change the arrow flight dynamics, if at all.

They may not and all is good.  If they do, act on it and go on.  Broadheads are what we shoot at deer, so they are important to have flying well, in fact, because a weirdly flying arrow will penetrate less, it is imperative that you get them flying well.

You can do it.

thanks Chuck. I have shot many different types of heads with the compound over the years. if they didn't fly with my field points I would have to mess with the rest to get them to fly together. but with this, there is no rest!

If you need room to shoot those things, you know who to call.  Hopefully, you'll be right on, but some crazy stuff can happen.

I have had more trouble getting use to the sight picture with a broadhead on than flight problems.(Well tuned arrow)

If your bow is indeed well tuned, you should see the same great flight out of your broadhead tipped arrows that you see from your field tipped arrows!

As mentioned above, your sight picture can be a bit different because what your mind is seeing will be different than it is used to.

Make sure you practice with your quiver on if that's what you'll be using. It can affect flight or point of impact due to the extra weight.
