Arrow tuning breakthrough
«

I just wanted to document this in case it makes anyone else's life easier in the future.
today so I played around with my heavy weight field-point test pack and got my arrows for the Bear Montana and K mag dialed in.
Previous set up: Easton Trad only 500 spine 29.5 in standard alum insert 100 grain field point 150 grain (grey) weight tube. Total weight 530gn. Bare shaft stiff.
New set up: Same Easton Trad Only 500 spine 29.5 Standard alum insert, 250 grain field point, no weight tube. total weight: 540 and flying like lazers. Tested bare shaft and fletched to 20 yards.
For some reason my 45 lb Kmag likes 200 grain field points instead of 250.
Looks like 3rivers is going to be getting some more of my business!
Any thoughts on this set up? I will be buying new broad heads as I only have 100 grain now. Looking at woodsman elite. 200 and 250 gn.
Thanks to everyone on this site for all the advice and guidance!

Your new setup sounds exactly like mine except my arrows are Gt 3555s. I shoot a 45lb k mag. I shoot 125 grain glue on zwickey Eskimos with a 100 grain steel adapter. I'm cheap lol. I'd rather buy 6 broadheads for 25 dollars than 3 for 40. They fly great. They also have no problem passing through a deer. Your good to go. Good luck this season.
Matt.

Yep. Higher FOC improves arrow flight.

What Orion said and the weight up front reduced your dynamic spine, hence no longer stiff when bare shaft tuning.
Weight up front is where you want it, provided you obtain perfect arrow flight, as it sounds that you have. Good job!

I never could get those weight tubes to work right. they always seem to throw off the flight.
I ended up going with more weight up front.

the biggest bummer for the weight tubes is that many times when I hit anything, target included the tube bounces back sending the nock flying! Anyway, I am glad I finally had someone show me how to bare shaft tune my bow. What a wondrous difference it makes.

I thought weight tubes made arrows fly poorly too, but I've seen some do it successfully.

Doesn't surprise me, KMags like a bit stiffer arrow than some others. Mine is the same way.
