Can anyone compare the Stalker Coyote and the RER XR
« on: September 06, 2015, 09:48:00 AM »
I am curious how the Stalker Coyote with static recurve limbs compares to the RER XR with static recurve limbs. Would like to hear about the grips, stability, and smoothness, and speed. I have shot a Stalker with longbow limbs but never the statics and have never even seen an RER so would love to hear everybody's thoughts.

I have had both, still have a Coyote. Great bows and both perform very well......better than most!! Grips are tough to tell somebody about because everybody like a certain feel. Both are good. I see you also have a River Runner.....my favorite recurve!!

Ron I wish I could spend a day trying out all your bows. Well maybe two days as many as you have.

I love the grip on RER's, but dont have a Stalker so can't compare for you.  But as was said, grips are such a personal preference thing that the only opinion that really matters is your own.

Sorry can not help you a lot . I have owned several RER bows - one piece three piece recurve longbow , both XR and newest vital, all very nice bows. My shooting form although not bad at all , is not quite good enough for the RER static tip. Under pressure I tend to want to add string torque -- to much face etc. and with the RER Static tip it magnified my shot dispersion. Definitely not the fault of the RER bow. As far as the Stalker Recurve I own a Stalker Wolverine with normal recurve limbs and I love it, got in January and still have it that is a long time for me that is because it is simply awesome!!! Good luck both are good choices.

I "test drove" a Coyote and have owned a few RER bows. Both performed great and were quiet as one could ask for. Preferred the RER grip myself, but as Ron said, that is just personal preference. Can't go wrong either way. I would encourage you to contact both bowyers about the test drive program. I know SouthCox does for a small deposit which is returned to you whenyou return the bow.

Thanks guys, ChetterB thanks for the input I didn't realize static tips where more sensitive to form errors than working limb bows.

I've had an XR and a Wolverine Static, both excellent bows with top shelf craftsmanship.  They shoot very similar, both quick and very quiet, I prefer the Stalker grip, I find it more contoured and shaped to naturally fit the hand vs the XR which was a little more a of classic "general" shaped recurve grip.  You honestly could not go wrong with either.

Craig your right about the Centaur. I don't know what's wrong with me!
I can't get a new bow right now anyway I was asking mainly out of pure curiosity.
