Morrison/ black ax carbon brace height?
« on: September 16, 2015, 10:58:00 AM »
ive had the 15 inch metal Morison riser for a week and I'm loving it. However I'm a bit in the dark re brace height using Blackmax limbs ( 35#glass wood and as of today 50# Blackmax carbon extreme borth short)
Question being  tradteck list the brace height on there 15" risers is 7.5 to 8.5 for short limbs , Morrison lists lower using his limbs  As 6.5 to 7 " ...any idea as to where to start? I seem to get string slap at the lower brace heights

I would just keep playing with it and listen to the sound of the bow and the vibration in your bowhand till it seems best.

I would start at 7.0 and keep twisting up the string and pay attention to the bows manners.I usually shoot long ILF limbs.Short limbs probably don't require as high a brace height as the longer limbs I typically use

I would also try messing with the limb bolts since its an ILF and see if it gets quieter with the limb bolts screwed all the down or backed out all the way.Or somewhere in between.

I'd certainly stay in the 8" range....you'd get rid of the string slap and it'll be quieter. I generally tighten the limb bolts down to the tightest setting and then back off if I have to adjust the tune. Good luck the extreme's are excellent limbs

There defiantly a smooth draw... If I didn't know they were 50 I'd not beleave it
The string slap was an issue at lower brace height,,, not a slap but it would brush against your arm at watch height.i haven't worn an arm guard so that's how light the string was slapping me

The limb bolt thing sorted my string slap and a fair bit of noise( not that there was much to start with) .ive got it at 7 " at the moment but I'll work up bit by bit towards 8" just to see.
It's a very nice bow ( especially for the smaller of us lol)
