It saddens me to hear. One of Jims video's put the fire in me for the bow at a very early age. It was a caribou hunt and to this day that is a dream trip for me.

I also spent time looking around his shop in Tulsa when I was a kid. Jim was always friendly and helpful. Rest in peace brother of the bow!

The very first arrows (I still own quite a few) I ever bought in the 80's were JDA supernaturals.  I even sent Jim a resume the spring I graduated from college... Lol.  Such good people in bowhunting.

The Archery/Bowhunting community lost another "GREAT ONE". Those folks that do not know of him should look into his past a bit.I was fortunate to have written Jim a few times over the years and in fact in MAY I sent him some arrows to Autograph that where made exclusively for JIM DOUGHERTY ARCHERY The Naturals & Supernaturals (he also had rattlesnake skin patterned XX75 that were COOL ). I tried like heck for a couple years to get JIM to come as guest for Traditional Archery Shoot I was involved in it was bad time of year MAY for him because it would cut into his Turkey Hunting which he loved, still good memories talking on the phone with him.Hopefully he is in a better place.

P.S. For those that are not aware in 2007' Jim came out with a book along with Peterson's BOWHUNTING titled: " BEST of TRAILS END " a good read.

Sad to hear... I enjoyed his bow and bowhunting writings when I was a kid back in the day along with firestick brethren Jack O'Conner and Elmer Keith...

Mr. Dougherty was a true icon of the hunting community and will be missed...

May Mr. Dougherty enjoy peace and enjoy knowing that so many of us that pull back a string benefitted from his knowledge and stories....
Have a nice day!
Kevin
