elbow pain

I am in the process of moving and now have a lot of pain on thru inside area of my elbow.  If pulling my bow my pointer and middle fingers aggravate the area where the pain is.  Anyone have an idea of what might be injured and how or what I can do to speed recovery?  there is slight swelling, and it effects my ability to draw and hold my bow.  Any input appreciated.

yikes, if you have a good chiropractor it might be worth giving them a visit. Maybe a few days rest and some stretching will help it out, if its hurting I wouldn't keep flinging arrows.

Sounds like it could be tendonitis to me! You might try getting a tendonitis band that goes on just below the elbow and see if it helps.

Also, if it is a sudden injury, you might want to have it checked by a Dr to make sure you did not tear anything.

Thank you guys.  At 49 I am beginning to realize that I can't lift, pull, and move a household of furniture by my self without consequences.  I am going to try to let it rest a bit before I try any more shooting.  I have not even made it out on stand this year and that is only 3 miles from where I am at this time.  Next week it will be about 125 miles away.

I am a personal trainer so this is my advice.
 Do NOT do bar hangs! You will make it worse. You need to ice it,keep it wrapped with an ace bandage  or the like,and rest it. Do not stretch it either. Do not shoot a bow.

After it heals in a few weeks you need to take a softball,lay on the floor and roll your forearms,biceps and triceps on the ball. This is called myofacial release and is a self massage. Do it daily.This will get rid of all the muscle knots,or trigger points, you have farther reducing pain and preventing any more injuries. Then you can start to gently stretch your forearms,shoulders and triceps and biceps.

I have had the same injury as well as other strain/age related injuries.  Started going to a acupuncturist earlier this year. Wish I had done this for all my other strain related injuries.  Acupuncturists are particularly good at relieving pain and inflammation in tendons and muscles.

Also, dont jump back into shooting your bow as soon as it feels better. You will re-injure it. Plan on dropping bow weight and easing back into shooting slowly.

I wouldn't take anyone's advice, go see a Dr. If it bothers you that bad then see someone who can help you and know what the problem might be.

My elbow had a hot nerve, I believe it is called the ulnar nerve.  According my chiro, I had a messed up neck, shoulder, a bone in my forearm and some stuff in my wrist.  Lifting weights and shooting for three hours or more a day can do that to someone in their sixties.  He gave some gentle stretches to do and orders to take it easy for a week.  I feel fine tonight, I bet that I go hunting tomorrow afternoon.  I just won't shoot unless I need to  and call for help if I get an arrow in Big Daddy.
