OK back. No deer this morning, but saw some turkey. They come back in here in Indiana soon - bow only so bow and I will be in the woods.    :D

So the luck buck...

I am not a trophy hunter at all. I like to eat deer meat and I love bowhunting. Well, all hunting. You know how you start to get to know patterns on a property?

This was the evening of Oct 30th. I tried to sneak out of work earlier, but that didn't happen.

The plan was to hang a new stand in a particular spot, but on my way in, this other tree seemed to say, "Take me Bill Tyler..."

I thought, "Hmmm...  I do see bucks sometimes walking the trail just below this tree and I have never hunted this side before."

I hung the stand.

OK sorry - I said highlights. I am getting caught up in the details.

Long story short, at about 6:00 all of a sudden he was below me. I didn't see that hiss body was big, he reminded me of the forky I kept seeing last fall and didn't shoot.

As he walked by I was thinking that those antlers seemed big around. Hmmm...

I decided to take the shot. He was oh, about 15-18 yards.

The shot was too far back...  He ran off.

I waited till the morning to go looking - after verifying blood.

Weather was in the 40's.

Found him the next morning and that's when I realized what a brute he was!!

His body was huge! I was stoked!!

I took some pics, and then - eventually was able to get him out of the ravine and loaded into my truck.

At the processors they said he was the biggest 6-point they had ever seen.    :)

I didn't earn him, or specifically hunt him, the shot wasn't even all that good, but the good SHARP broadheads did enough cutting and damage to put him down in less than 100 yards.

Whatever kind of broadheads you use - just make 'em really really sharp.  :)

I was totally lucky. This is largest buck I have taken with any weapon. Even when some things went wrong, I ended up with this beautiful whitetail. I am humbled and greatly blessed.

"Take me Bill Tyler!"

... I thought wait, isn't his name Todd?   Haha. So of course I google the quote.  For you it was bucks not beavers!

Great story.  But It wasn't all luck that got you that big boy.  You hung the stand in the right spot and then made the shot!  Awesome!! Congrats again.
