split finger vs 3 under
«
on:

Hi Everyone,
I need some experienced opinions here. I have a Checkmate recurve tillered for split finger. However, I shoot much better 3 under. The only issue is that the bow makes more noise with 3 under. What could cause this? Any opinions on shooting 3 under out of my bow?
I have bow hush, hush puppies and limb savers on the bow already.
Thanks!

So what can be done? Do most people that shoot the way I do just buy bows tillered for 3 under?

Try moving the nock point up. Also you can adjust the brace height.

I shoot three under and of all my bows only one is tillered for it.
I have had to "play" with both brace hgt. and nock point set but have always been able to "calm the beast down". It takes a bit of tinkering. Do not move the nock set point more than 1/8th of an inch at a time. Perhaps even less.
It will work and the bow will shoot well.

What has been said is the facts. Due to the way you load the limbs, you need to re-balance it. This is accomplished with raising nock point. You might also end up goint to a rest instead of shooting off the shelf as you elevate the nock point.

I also shoot 3under and it seems my bows shoot quieter and better with a little more brace height than one over. Not much but a little.
